I believe art, essentially, is change.
Art can change our mood, our points of view, our surroundings.
That, and I believe we can change through art.
We can change our mood, our points of view, our surroundings.
But most importantly,
I believe we have the power to incite change through art.
And together, we can create community that changes how we see and experience the world, through art, which I believe surrounds us always.
It’s just a matter of knowing how to look for it…
heART?
or stain on the floor?
While this is not a new piece, it seems the most appropriate way to start my journey. I took this heART photo on my first visit to the dance stage at Artomatic, which I curated in 2008. It was cold. And dark. There was also a drip in the ceiling. The stain it left became my inspiration for that event, for my recent event, ReSource Philadelphia, and continues to remind me to find beauty in even the most unlikely of places.
Here’s to another day of creativity…
